My analysis of her manuscripts illuminates one aspect of Shiga Naoya during his stay in Nara and Nara in the war years. By investigating “Women Writer’s Series” published by the Zenkoku-shobo, I demonstrate how the network of women writers functioned and the role Ikeda played in publishing the series. The novelist, who lived at Takabatake in 1929-38, attracted many literary minded people around his house. Ikeda Kogiku, a woman writer deeply connected with Nara Women's University, was one of his disciples and an important member of the circle.
  Ikeda Kogiku was a woman of great versatility. She was an educator, and a writer, as well as a feminist. We gave a public exhibition of her multifaceted works at the Memorial Hall of Nara Women's University from 29th April to 5th May, 2005, under the title of "Nara and Ikeda Kogiku - An Educator, Writer, and Disciple of Shiga Naoya."
  The study also analyzes the close relation between the cultural climate of Nara and Shiga's literary techniques, which were imitated and developed by his disciples like Ozaki Kazuo, Amino Kiku and Ikeda Kogiku. The relation is so close that those writers are sometimes said to belong to "the Nara School." We edited some epistles hitherto ignored by the students of Shiga's Literature.
