Abstract We study theoretically the structure of double pionic atoms, in which two negatively charged pions (π-) are bound in the atomic orbits. The double pionic atom is considered to be an interesting system from the point of view of the multi bosonic systems. In addition, it could be possible to deduce valuable information on the isospin I = 2 π π interaction and the pion-nucleus strong interaction. In this paper, we take into account the π π strong and electromagnetic interactions, and evaluate the effects on the binding energies by perturbation theory for the double pionic atoms in heavy nuclei. We investigate several combinations of two pionic states and find that the order of magnitude of the energy shifts due to the π π interaction is around 10 keV for the strong interaction and around 100 keV for the electromagnetic interaction for the ground states., 2021年02月23日, Progress of Theoretical and Experimental Physics, doi;arxiv;url

Abstract We have measured, for the first time, the inclusive missing-mass spectrum of the $^{12}$C$(K^-, p)$ reaction at an incident kaon momentum of 1.8 GeV/$c$ at the J-PARC K1.8 beamline. We observed a prominent quasi-elastic peak ($K^-p \rightarrow K^-p$) in this spectrum. In the quasi-elastic peak region, the effect of secondary interaction is apparently observed as a peak shift, and the peak exhibits a tail in the bound region. We compared the spectrum with a theoretical calculation based on the Green’s function method by assuming different values of the parameters for the $\bar{K}$–nucleus optical potential. We found that the spectrum shape in the binding-energy region $-300 \, \text{MeV} < B_{K} < 40$ MeV is best reproduced with the potential depths $V_0 = -80$ MeV (real part) and $W_0 = -40$ MeV (imaginary part). On the other hand, we observed a significant event excess in the deeply bound region around $B_{K} \sim 100$ MeV, where the major decay channel of $K^- NN \to \pi\Sigma N$ is energetically closed, and the non-mesonic decay modes ($K^- NN \to \Lambda N$ and $\Sigma N$) should mainly contribute. The enhancement is fitted well by a Breit–Wigner function with a kaon-binding energy of 90 MeV and width 100 MeV. A possible interpretation is a deeply bound state of a $Y^{*}$-nucleus system., 2020年12月15日, Progress of Theoretical and Experimental Physics, 2020 (12), doi;web_of_science;url;url

© 2017, SIF, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany. The η mesic nucleus is considered to be one of the interesting exotic many-body systems and has been studied since the 1980s theoretically and experimentally. Recently, the formation of the η mesic nucleus in the fusion reactions of the light nuclei such as d+ d→ (η+ α) → X has been proposed and the experiments have been performed by WASA-at-COSY. We develop a theoretical model to evaluate the formation rate of the η mesic nucleus in the fusion reactions and show the calculated results. We find that the η bound states could be observed in the reactions in cases with the strong attractive and small absorptive η-nucleus interactions. We compare our results with existing data of the d+ d→ η+ α and the d+ d→ 3He+ N+ π reactions. We find that the analyses by our theoretical model with the existing data can provide new information on the η-nucleus interaction., 2017年10月01日, European Physical Journal A, 53 (10), 194, arxiv;doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby;url;url

We performed a missing-mass spectroscopy experiment of the 12C(p, d) reaction in order to search for η′-mesic nuclei. Excitation spectrum of 11C around the η′-meson production threshold was successfully obtained with a high-statistical sensitivity and sufficiently good energy resolution. Since no peak structure associated with the formation of η′-mesic nuclei was observed, we set constraints on the formation cross sections of η′-mesic states and on the η′-nucleus interaction., 2017年10月, Acta Physica Polonica B, 48 (10), 1813 - 1818, doi;scopus;scopus_citedby;url

  • Formation Spectra of Pionic Atoms in Green’s Function Method

比連崎 悟; Natsumi Ikeno; Junko Yamagata-Sekihara; Hideko Nagahiro; Satoru Hirenzaki

We study the formation spectra of deeply bound pionic atoms in the (d, He-3) reactions using the Green's function method, stimulated by recent developments in experimental techniques. The Green's function method is considered to be a better theoretical formalism than the effective number approach to evaluate the formation rate of unstable systems. We compare the calculated results by the Green's function method with those by the effective number approach in various cases. We find that the differences between the results obtained by both methods are reasonably small and we can reaffirm that the effective number approach is a good theoretical method for the analyses of the previous experimental data with typical binding-energy errors of Delta B. E. greater than or similar to 20 keV for the deeply bound pionic atoms. On the other hand, we think that theoretical results using the Green's function method will be necessary in the near future to deduce precise information on the pion properties in nuclei from analyses of the pionic atom data with better accuracy than before., 2015年03月, Prog. In a search for ω mesic states, the production of ω-mesons in coincidence with forward going protons has been studied in photon induced reactions on 12C for incident photon energies of 1250-3100 MeV. The π0γ pairs from decays of bound or quasi-free ω-mesons have been measured with the CBELSA/TAPS detector system in coincidence with protons registered in the MiniTAPS forward array. Structures in the total energy distribution of the π0γ pairs, which would indicate the population and decay of bound ω 11B states, are not observed. The π0γ cross section of 0.3 nb MeV-1 sr-1 observed in the bound state energy regime between -100 and 0 MeV may be accounted for by yield leaking into the bound state regime because of the large in-medium width of the ω-meson. A comparison of the measured total energy distribution with calculations suggests the real part V0 of the ω 11B potential to be small and only weakly attractive with V0(ρ = ρ0) = - 15 ± 35(stat) ± 20(syst) MeV in contrast to some theoretical predictions of attractive potentials with a depth of 100-150 MeV. © 2014 Elsevier B.V., 2014年09月07日, Phys. • MESON PROPERTIES AT FINITE DENSITY FROM MESIC ATOMS AND MESIC NUCLEI

    Satoru Hirenzaki; Hideko Nagahiro

The properties of eta'(958) meson at finite nuclear density is considered to have close connection with the effects of U-A(1) anomaly at finite density. In this context, we are very much interested in the study of the eta'(958)mesic nuclei. As for the eta-mesic nuclei, which have been studied for a long time, we think it is interesting and important to consider both effects of the coupling of eta N system to N*(1535) and of the mixing of eta with eta'(958). In this article, we briefly summarize recent results of our studies concerning with eta'(958)- and eta-mesic nuclei., 2014年03月, ACTA PHYSICA POLONICA B, 45 (3), 619 - 625, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

Effective nuclear densities probed by anti-kaon-nucleus systems is studied theoretically both for bound and low energy scattering states. As for the bound states, we investigate kaonic atoms. We find that the effective density depends on the atomic states significantly and we have the possibility to obtain the anti-kaon properties at various nuclear densities by observing the several kaonic atom states. We also find the energy dependence of the probed density by scattering states. We find that the study of the effective nuclear density will help to find the proper systems to investigate the meson properties at various nuclear densities. © 2013 Elsevier B.V., 2013年09月, Nuclear Physics A, 914, 344 - 348, arxiv;doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby;url;url

  • eta ' meson under partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear medium

Daisuke Jido; Shuntaro Sakai; Hideko Nagahiro; Satoru Hirenzaki; Natsumi Ikeno

In-medium modification of the eta' mass is discussed in the context of partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear medium. We emphasize that the U-A (1) anomaly effects cause the eta'-eta mass difference necessarily through the chiral symmetry breaking. As a consequence, the eta' mass is expected to be reduced by order of 100 MeV in nuclear matter where about 30% reduction of chiral symmetry takes place. The strong attraction relating to the eta' mass generation eventually implies that there should be also a strong attractive interaction in the scalar channel of the eta'-N two-body system. We find that the attraction can be strong enough to form a bound state. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. • Formation of Deeply Bound Pionic Atoms in Sn Isotopes

Natsumi Ikeno; Hideko Nagahiro; Satoru Hirenzaki

We study the formation of deeply bound pionic atoms in the (d,3He) reaction theoretically. At different scattering angles, we find that the different subcomponents dominate the formation spectra because of the matching condition of the reaction. We also find that the pionic 1s state which is free from the residual interaction effects appears clearly in 117Sn(d, 3He) spectra. We conclude that the observation of the (d,3He) reaction for these new cases will provide more systematic and accurate information on the pionic bound states, and it will help to develop the study of the pion properties and the partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclei. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Wien., 2013年08月, Few-Body Systems, 54 (7-10), 1573 - 1576, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

We are going to perform an inclusive spectroscopy experiment of η′ mesic nuclei with the 12C(p,d) reaction to study in-medium properties of the η′ meson. In nuclear medium, the η′ meson mass may be reduced due to partial restoration of chiral symmetry. • (d,He-3) reaction on an odd-neutron nuclear target for the formation of deeply bound pionic atoms

Natsumi Ikeno; Junko Yamagata-Sekihara; Hideko Nagahiro; Satoru Hirenzaki

We consider pionic atom spectroscopy by the (d,He-3) reaction on an odd-neutron nuclear target in this article, which has not yet been investigated. In the (d,He-3) reaction on the odd-neutron nuclear target, we can observe pionic states in the even-neutron nucleus with spin-parity 0(+). We expect that these pionic states do not have additional shifts due to the effects of the residual interaction between neutron-hole and pionic states. For the even-neutron nuclear target cases, we may have to take into account the residual interaction effects to deduce the binding energies of the pionic states precisely from the high-precision experimental data, since the final pionic states are pion-particle plus neutron-hole [pi circle times n(-1)] states. Thus, in addition to widening the domain of pionic atom spectroscopy on the nuclear chart, the present study of the (d,He-3) reaction on an odd-neutron target is considered to be important to deduce extremely precise information on the binding energies of the observed pionic states, and to clarify the pion properties and aspects of the symmetries of the strong interaction at finite density. We modify the formula of the even-even nuclear target case to study pionic atom formation spectra on the even-odd nuclear target and show the numerical results of the Sn-117 target case. We calculate theoretically the formation spectra of η'(958)-nucleus systems in the (p,d) reaction for the investigation of in-medium modification of the η' mass. We show comprehensive numerical calculations based on a simple form of the η' optical potential in nuclei with various potential depths. We conclude that one finds evidence of a possible attractive interaction between η' and the nucleus as a peak structure appearing around the η' threshold in light nuclei such as 11C, when the attractive potential is stronger than 100 MeV and the absorption width is of order 40 MeV or less. Spectroscopy of the (p,d) reaction is expected to be performed experimentally at existing facilities, such as GSI. A novel method is proposed to measure eta' (958) meson bound states in C-11 nuclei by missing mass spectroscopy of the C-12(p, d) reaction near the eta' production threshold. It is shown that peak structures will be observed experimentally in an inclusive measurement in case that the in-medium eta' mass reduction is sufficiently large and that the decay width of eta' mesic states is narrow enough. • Deeply bound pionic states in heavy nuclei

Toshimitsu Yamazaki; Satoru Hirenzaki; Ryugo S. Hayano; Hiroshi Toki

The present paper reviews theoretical and experimental studies of a new type of nuclear spectroscopy for the structure of deeply bound pi(-) states and their formation processes through "pion-transfer" nuclear reactions. The calculated energy levels of deeply bound pionic states in heavy nuclei using the standard pion-nucleus optical potential are found to be narrow discrete states even for the 1s state in Pb-208. These hitherto unexpected results are caused by the repulsive pion-nucleus optical potential which pushes pionic wavefunctions outwards so that the nuclear absorption of the bound pions is weakened. Theoretical studies on pion-transfer reactions were carried out as a methodological guide to produce these deeply bound pionic states experimentally. In particular, various predictions were made on the pion-transfer proton-pickup reactions (n, d) and (d, He-3). Following these theoretical studies successful experiments on high-resolution spectroscopy of (d, He-3) reactions were carried out at GSI. The experimental procedures and results together with their theoretical implications are also reviewed. The most important feature of deeply bound Is states of pi(-) in heavy nuclei is that it provides unique information on the s-wave isovector pi(-) N interaction which is connected to reduction of chiral symmetry breaking in the nuclear medium. Recent experiments on Pb and Sn isotopes have yielded clear evidence for partial restoration of chiral symmetry in the nuclear medium. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. • η '-Nucleus optical potential and possible η ' bound states

    H. Nagahiro; S. Hirenzaki; E. Oset; A. Ramos

Starting from a recent model of the η 'N interaction, we evaluate the η '-nucleus optical potential, including the contribution of lowest order in density, tρ/2mη', together with the second-order terms accounting for η ' absorption by two nucleons. We also calculate the formation cross section of the η ' bound states from (π +, p) reactions on nuclei. The η '-nucleus potential suffers from uncertainties tied to the poorly known η 'N interaction, which can be partially constrained by the experimental modulus of the η 'N scattering length and/or the recently measured transparency ratios in η ' nuclear photoproduction. Assuming an attractive interaction and taking the claimed experimental value |a η'N|=0.1 fm, we obtain an η ' optical potential in nuclear matter at saturation density of Vη'=-(8.7+1.8i)MeV, not attractive enough to produce η ' bound states in light nuclei. Larger values of the scattering length give rise to deeper optical potentials, with moderate enough imaginary parts. For a value |aη'N|=0.3fm, which can still be considered to lie within the uncertainties of the experimental constraints, the spectra of light and medium nuclei show clear structures associated to η '-nuclear bound states and to threshold enhancements in the unbound region. © 2012 Elsevier B.V., 2012年03月13日, Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics, 709 (1-2), 87 - 92, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

  • Nuclear bound state of eta ' (958) and partial restoration of chiral symmetry in the eta ' mass

Daisuke Jido; Hideko Nagahiro; Satoru Hirenzaki

The in-medium mass of the eta' meson is discussed in a context of partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear medium. The eta' mass is expected to be reduced by an order of 100 MeV at the saturation density. The reduction is a consequence of the suppression of the anomaly effect on the eta' mass induced by partial restoration of chiral symmetry. This strong attraction in eta' nuclear systems does not accompany large absorption of eta' into nuclear matter. This leads to the possibility of so narrow bound states of the eta' meson in nuclei to be seen in hadronic reactions with light nuclear targets., 2012年03月, PHYSICAL REVIEW C, 85 (3), 032201, 1-5, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

The existence of the quasideuteron in the target nucleus is assumed in this model. It is found that mesic nuclei formation in recoilless kinematics is possible even for heavier mesons than the nucleon in two-nucleon pick-up reactions. We study theoretically the formation spectra of deeply bound pionic atoms expected to be observed by experiments with high energy resolution at RIBF/RIKEN, and we discuss in detail the possibilities to extract new information on the pion properties at finite density from the observed spectra, which may provide information on partial restoration of chiral symmetry in medium. We find that the non-yrast pionic states such as 2s are expected to be seen in the (d,He-3) spectra, which will be helpful to reduce uncertainties of the theoretical calculations in the neutron wave functions in nucleus. The observation of the 2s state with the ground is state is also helpful to reduce the experimental uncertainties associated in the calibration of the absolute excitation energy. We find that the nuclear densities probed by atomic pions are quite stable and almost constant for various atomic states and various nuclei. We consider the structure and formation of the phi mesic nuclei to investigate the experimental feasibility of the observation of signals of the phi mesic nucleus formation. phi mesic nuclei are considered to be very important objects to study the in-medium modification of the phi-meson spectral function at finite density. We consider ((p) over bar, phi), (gamma, p) and (pi(-), n) reactions to produce a phi-meson inside the nucleus and evaluate the effects of its medium modifications to the reaction cross sections. We also estimate the consequences of the uncertainties of the in-medium (K) over bar self-energy to the phi-nucleus interaction. We find that it may be possible to see peak structures in the reaction spectra for the strong attractive potential cases. On the other hand, for strong absorptive interaction cases with relatively weak attraction, it is very difficult to observe clear peaks and we may need to know the spectrum shape in a wide energy region to deduce the properties of phi., 2010年07月, Progress of Theoretical Physics, 124 (1), 147 - 162, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

We perform a theoretical study of the spectrum of protons with kinetic energies of around 600 MeV, emitted following the interaction of 1 GeV/c kaons with nuclei. A recent experimental analysis of this (K-, p) reaction on 12C, based on the dominant quasielastic process, has suggested a deeply attractive kaon nucleus potential. Our Monte Carlo simulation considers, in addition, the one-and two-nucleon K- absorption processes producing hyperons that decay into πN pairs. We find that this kaon in-flight reaction is not well suited to determine the kaon optical potential due, essentially, to the limited sensitivity of the cross section to its strength, and also to unavoidable uncertainties from the coincidence requirement applied in the experiment. A shallow kaon nucleus optical potential obtained in chiral models is perfectly compatible with the observed spectrum. © 2010 Elsevier B.V. We study the (K-,p) reaction on nuclei with a 1 GeV/c momentum kaon beam, paying special attention to the region of emitted protons having kinetic energy above 600 MeV, which was used to claim a deeply attractive kaon nucleus optical potential. Our model describes the nuclear reaction in the framework of a local density approach and the calculations are performed following two different procedures: one is based on a many-body method using the Lindhard function and the other is based on a Monte Carlo simulation. The simulation method offers flexibility to account for processes other than kaon quasielastic scattering, such as K- absorption by one and two nucleons, producing hyperons, and allows consideration of final-state interactions of the K-, the p, and all other primary and secondary particles on their way out of the nucleus, as well as the weak decay of the produced hyperons into πN. We find a limited sensitivity of the cross section to the strength of the kaon optical potential. We also show a serious drawback in the experimental setup-the requirement for having, together with the energetic proton, at least one charged particle detected in the decay counter surrounding the target-as we find that the shape of the original cross section is appreciably distorted, to the point of invalidating the claims made in the experimental paper on the strength of the kaon nucleus optical. © 2010 The American Physical Society., 2010年02月24日, Physical Review C - Nuclear Physics, 81 (2), doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

  • Experimental status of deeply bound kaonic states in nuclei

We review recent claims of the existence of deeply bound kaonic states in nuclei. Also we study in details the (K-, p) reaction on 12C with 1 GeV/c momentum kaon beam, based on which a deep kaon nucleus optical potential was claimed in [1]. In our Monte Carlo simulation of this reaction we include not only the quasi-elastic K-p scattering, as in [1], but also K- absorption by one and two nucleons followed by the decay of the hyperon in πN, which can also produce strength in the region of interest. The final state interactions in terms of multiple scattering of the K-, p and all other primary particles on their way out of the nucleus is also considered. We will show that all these additional mechanisms allow us to explain the observed spectrum with a "standard" shallow kaon nucleus optical potential obtained in chiral models. © 2010 American Institute of Physics., 2010年, AIP Conference Proceedings, 1322, 334 - 338, web_of_science;doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

We make a theoretical study of the kaon absorption in flight on nuclei with a kaon beam of 1 GeV momentum, paying special attention to the forward and energetic emitted protons, which were used to claim a deep kaon nucleus optical potential in a recent experiment. We perform a Monte Carlo simulation of this reaction, which allows to account not only for quasi-elastic K-p scattering, but also for the other processes which contribute to the proton spectra and which are not taken into account by the ordinary Green's function method analysis. The experiment looks for fast protons, but in coincidence with at least one charged particle in a decay counters sandwiching the target. The coincidence requirement is assumed not to distort the shape of the proton spectra, but we show that this is not the case and as a consequence the conclusions drawn from the experimental analysis do not hold. © 2010 American Institute of Physics., 2010年, AIP Conference Proceedings, 1257, 750 - 754, web_of_science;doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

We study theoretically the in-flight (K-,N) reactions for the formation of light kaonic nuclear systems to get deeper physical insights on the spectra and to investigate the formation spectra of the reaction that will be observed at new facilities like the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC). We show the expected spectra for the formation of the K-pp, K-pn, K-nn, and K - B11 systems that are accessible by the (K-,N) experiments. By considering the conversion part of the Green's function, we show the missing mass spectra of the (K-,N) reactions in coincident with the particle emissions due to K̄ absorption. To calculate the cross sections, we use the so-called Tρ approximation to evaluate the optical potential. As for the amplitude T, we adopt the chiral unitary amplitude of K̄N channel in vacuum for simplicity. The effects of the p-wave optical potential of Σ(1385) channel and the contributions from K̄0 mixing in He3(K-,n) reaction are also evaluated numerically. We also study the behavior of the poles of kaon Green's function in nuclear matter. We conclude that He3(K-,n) and He3(K-,p) reaction spectra in coincident with the πΣ emission may show the structure in the kaon bound region indicating the existence of the unstable kaonic nuclear states. As for the C12(K-,p) spectra with the πΣ emission, we may also observe the structure in the bound region, however, we need to evaluate the medium effects carefully for larger nuclei. © 2009 The American Physical Society., 2009年10月09日, Physical Review C - Nuclear Physics, 80 (4), doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

  • The (K-, p) reaction on 12C at KEK

    V. K. Magas; J. Yamagata-Sekihara; S. Hirenzaki; E. Oset; A. Ramos

We study the (K-, p) reaction on 12C with a kaon beam of 1 GeV momentum, paying a special attention to the region of emitted protons having kinetic energy above 600 MeV, which was used to claim a deep kaon nucleus optical potential [1]. The experiment looks for fast protons emitted from the absorption of in flight kaons by nuclei, but in coincidence with at least one charged particle in the decay counters sandwiching the target. The analysis of the data is done in [1] assuming that the coincidence requirement does not change the shape of the final spectra. However our detailed calculations show that this assumption does not hold, and, thus, the final conclusion of this experiment is doubtful. We perform Monte Carlo simulation of this reaction. The advantage of our method with respect to Green's function method used in [1] is that it allows to account not only for quasi-elastic K-p scattering, but also for the other processes which contribute to the proton spectra. We investigated the effect of the multi-scatterings and of the K- absorptions by one and two nucleons (K-N → πY and K -NN → YN) followed by the decay of the hyperon in πN. We show that all these mechanisms allow us to explain reasonably well the observed spectrum with "standard" shallow kaon nucleus optical potential, obtained in chiral models., 2009年, Nonlinear Phenomena in Complex Systems, 12 (4), 414 - 418, scopus;scopus_citedby

    D. Jido; E. E. Kolomeitsev; H. Nagahiro; S. Hirenzaki

We study eta-meson properties in the infinite nuclear matter and in atomic nuclei with an emphasis on effects of the eta coupling to N* (1535)-nucleon-hole modes. The N* (1535) resonance, which dominates the low-energy eta-nucleon scattering, can be seen as a chiral partner of the nucleon. The change of the chiral mass gap between the N* and the nucleon in a nuclear medium has an impact on the properties of the eta-nucleus system. If the N*-nucleon mass gap decreases with a density increase (chiral symmetry restoration) the calculations show the existence of the resonance state at the energy about 60 MeV and two bound eta-nucleus states with the binding energies about - 80 MeV. These states can have strong effect on predicted cross sections of the 12C(γ, p)11B reaction with eta-meson production. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. We investigate the properties of eta-nucleus interaction by postulating the N*(1535) dominance for eta-N system. We evaluate the N*(1535) properties in the nuclear medium using two kinds of chiral models, and find that these two models provide qualitatively different eta-nucleus optical potentials reflecting the quite distinct properties of N*(1535) in these chiral models. We also study the inclusive production of π0γ in nuclei around the ω energy and find a double hump structure for the energy spectra, with a peak around a π0γ energy of mω-100 MeV, which could easily be misidentified by a signal of an ω bound state in nuclei, while it is actually due to a different scaling of the uncorrelated π0γ production and ω production with subsequent π0γ decay. © 2007 The American Physical Society., 2007年06月26日, Physical Review C - Nuclear Physics, 75 (6), 064616, 1-10, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

We analyze the neutrino induced charged current coherent pion production at the energies of interest for recent experiments like K2K and MiniBooNE. Medium effects in the production mechanism and the distortion of the pion wave function, obtained solving the Klein Gordon equation with a microscopic optical potential, are included in the calculation. • Kaon absorption from kaonic atoms and formation spectra of kaonic nuclei

山縣 淳子; 比連崎 悟; 比連崎 悟

The original publication is available at www.springerlink.comWe considered the kaon absorption from atomic states into the nucleus. We found that the nuclear density probed by the atomic kaon significantly depends on the kaon orbit. Then, we re-examined the meanings of the observed strengths of one-body and two-body kaon absorption, and investigated the effects to the formation spectra of kaon bound states by in-flight (K-, p) reactions. As a natural consequence, if the atomic kaon probes a smaller nuclear density, the ratio of the two-body absorption at nuclear center is larger than the observed value in kaonic atoms, and the depth of the imaginary potential is deeper even at smaller kaon energies as in kaonic nuclear states because of the large phase space for the two-body processes. This deeper imaginary potential makes the signals of kaonic nucleus formation more unclear in the (K-, p) spectra., Springer Berlin / Heidelberg, 2007年02月08日, The European Physical Journal A - Hadrons and Nuclei, 31 (2), 255 - 262, cinii_articles;cinii_books;doi;web_of_science;url;scopus;scopus_citedby

We have investigated the neutrino induced coherent pion production reaction at the energies of interest for recent experiments like K2K and MiniBooNE. The model includes pion, nucleon and the δ( 1232) resonance. Medium effects in the production mechanism and the distortion of the pion wave function are taken into account. We find a strong reduction of the cross section due to these effects and also substantial modifications in the energy distributions of the final pion. The sensitivity of the results on the axial N-δ coupling CA5 (0) and the coherent fraction in neutral-current π0 production are discussed. © 2007 American Institute of Physics., 2007年, AIP Conference Proceedings, 967, 201 - 204, web_of_science;doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

We present a theoretical study on formation rates of η and ω meson-nucleus systems induced by (γ, p) reactions on nuclear targets at ideal recoilless condition. We find that the smaller distortion effect in the (γ, p) reaction enables us to investigate properties of the mesons created deeply inside nucleus more clearly. We also consider excitation of scalar-isoscalar (σ) mode in nucleus in order to investigate spectral enhancement around two-pion threshold caused by partial restoration of chiral symmetry. We conclude that valuable information of meson-nucleus interactions can be extracted from global structure of the missing mass spectra in the (γ, p) reaction. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. We need to evaluate the residual interaction effects carefully to deduce the nuclear medium effects for pion properties, which are believed to provide valuable information on nuclear chiral dynamics. The s- and p-wave πN interactions are used for the pion-nucleon residual interactions. We show that the complex energy shifts are around [(10-20) + i(2-7)] keV for 1s states in Sn, which should be taken into account in the analyses of the high precision data of deeply bound pionic 1s states in Sn isotopes. © 2005 The American Physical Society., 2005年06月, Physical Review C - Nuclear Physics, 71 (6), 061601, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby;url;url

The mass-number dependences of the high-energy pion single-charge-exchange reactions are studied under the distorted-wave impulse approximation. The observed forward-angle cross sections are approximately proportional to (N-Z)xA(-alpha(E)) for the isobaric-analog transition and the overall feature is explained in the present calculation. The coefficient alpha(E) is shown to be strongly dependent on the imaginary part of the optical potential. The observed monotonic decrease of the coefficient alpha(E) with respect to the incident energy is reproduced but the absolute values of alpha(E) are smaller than those of experiment. It is also shown that the coefficient alpha(E) is considerably influenced by the rms radii of the isovector density of the target nuclei., 2004年03月, Phys. We have shown that the s-wave pion-nucleus potential with medium-modified density-dependent parameters, such as b0(ρ) and b1 (ρ), can be represented by a conventional form with constant parameters by replacing the nuclear density (ρ(r)) with an effective density, ρe ≈ 0.60 ρ(0). The [Formula Presented] properties in the nuclear medium are evaluated by two kinds of chiral effective models based on distinct pictures of [Formula Presented] We find that these two models provide qualitatively different optical potentials of the [Formula Presented] meson, reflecting the in-medium properties of [Formula Presented] in these models. In order to compare these models in physical observables, we calculate spectra of [Formula Presented] reactions for the [Formula Presented] mesic nucleus formation with various kinds of target nuclei. We show that the [Formula Presented] spectra obtained in these models are significantly different and are expected to be distinguishable in experiments. © 2003 The American Physical Society., 2003年, Physical Review C - Nuclear Physics, 68 (3), 9, doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

We observed deeply bound π- 1s states in 115,119,123sn for the first time in 116,120,124Sn(d, 3He) reactions at recoil free conditions to determine the 1s binding energies and the widths precisely. A preliminary result is used to deduce the isovector scattering amplitude as b1 = 0.115 ± 0.005 m π-1. The observed enhancement of b1 over the free πN value infers 35% reduction of fπ2 at the normal nuclear density, ρ = 0.17 fm-3., 2003年, Progress of Theoretical Physics Supplement, 149 (149), 32 - 41, web_of_science;doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

  • Experimental indication of a reduced chiral order parameter from the 1s pi- state in 205Pb (共著)

    比連崎 悟; H. Geissel

The isovector potential parameter (b1) of the s-wave pion-nucleus interaction was deduced to be b1 = -0.116-0.017+0.015mπ-1 by using the binding energy and width of the recently observed deeply bound 1s π- state in 205Pb combined with the known 1s states of light pionic atoms. An enhancement of b1 over the free-πN value (|-0.090|) is indicated, which may infer that the chiral order parameter (squared pion decay constant, fπ2) is reduced by a factor of 0.78-0.09+0.13 in the nuclear medium of 205Pb where the bound π- is located. The isoscalar part is accounted for as arising mainly from a double-scattering effect, without invoking a large density-quadratic term. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. • Medium Effects to N(1535) resonance and eta mesic nuclei(共著)

    比連崎 悟; 慈道大介

The structure of η-nucleus bound systems (η mesic nuclei) is investigated as one of the tools to study in-medium properties of the N(1535)(N*) resonance by using the chiral doublet model to incorporate the medium effects of the N* resonance in a chiral symmetric way. We find that the shape and depth of the η-nucleus optical potential are strongly affected by the in-medium properties of the N* and nucleon. Especially, as a general feature of the potential, the existence of a repulsive core of the η-nucleus potential at the nuclear center with an attractive part at the nuclear surface is concluded. We calculate the level structure of bound states in this "central-repulsive and surface-attractive" optical potential and find that the level structure is sensitive to the in-medium properties of the N*. The (d,3He) spectra are also evaluated for the formation of these bound states to investigate the experimental feasibility. We study the (γ, p) reaction on 208Pb leading to 207Pb with a bound pion attached to it in the lowest 1s or 2p pionic levels. The reaction can be made recoilless to optimize the production cross section but we must choose a bit higher photon energy to overcome the Coulomb barrier in the proton emission. The cross sections obtained are easily measurable and can be larger than 50 per cent of the background from inclusive (γ, p). This makes it a clear case for the detection of the pionic atom signals, converting this reaction into a practical tool to produce deeply bound pionic atoms. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. We evaluate radiative decays of ρ and ω going to two neutral mesons, π0π0 and π0η. We use the sequential vector decay mechanisms in addition to chiral loops and ρ-ω mixing. The chiral loops are obtained using elements of UXPT successfully applied in the study of meson-meson interactions up to 1.2 GeV. The chiral loops are found very important in the case of the ρ → π0π0γ decay and small in the other cases. A good agreement with present measurements of ρ → π0π0γ and ω → π0π0γ is obtained and predictions are made for the other decays where the rates obtained are rather small. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. • Deeply Bound π-states in 207Pb formed in 208Pb(d, 3He)reaction, part II: Deduced Binding Energies and Widths and the Pron-Nucleus Interaction(共著)

    比連崎 悟; 板橋健太

We find a remarkable agreement of the excitation energy spectrum of the 208Pb(d,3He) reaction measured at Td=600 MeV near the π- production threshold with its theoretical prediction. Their comparison leads us to assign the distinct narrow peak observed at about 5 MeV below the threshold to the formation of bound pionic states π ⊗ 207Pb of the quasisubstitutional configurations (2p)π-(3p3/2,3p1/2)-1n . A small bump observed on the tail of the peak is assigned to the pionic 1s state. The binding energies (Bnl) and the widths (Γnl) of the pionic orbitals are deduced to be B2p=5.13±0.02 (stat)±0.12 (syst) MeV and Γ2p = 0.43±0.06 (stat) ±0.06 (syst) MeV by decomposing the experimental spectrum into the pionic 1s and 2p components. While B2p and Γ2p are determined with small ambiguity, B2p and Γ2p are strongly correlated with each other, and are affected by the relative 1 s/2p cross section ratio assumed, since the 1s component is observed only as an unresolved bump. Thus, we have to allow large uncertainties 6.6 MeV<;B1s<6.9 MeV and 0.4 MeV<Γ1s <1.2 MeV. The experimental binding energies and widths are compared with theoretically calculated values based on various optical potential parameter sets, and are jointly used to deduce the effective π- mass in the nuclear medium., 2000年08月, Physical Review, 62 (2), 252021 - 2520212, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

We have studied the isotope dependence of deeply bound pionic states in Sn and Pb in order to examine the possibility of obtaining important information on neutron density distribution and the modification of the pion decay constant fπ in a nuclear medium. Formation cross sections of the pionic states are calculated in the (d, 3He) reactions. The present results indicate that the isotope dependence of the pionic states can be deduced from the experimental data with accessible energy resolution. • Chiral unitary model for Kaonic atom(共著)

    比連崎 悟; 比連崎悟

We study kaonic atoms over the periodic table using a kaon self-energy in the nuclear medium derived from the SU(3) chiral unitary model. This model is quite successful in reproducing the scattering amplitude of meson meson and the strangeness S = - 1 meson baryon reactions. In particular the properties of the Δ (1405) resonance are well reproduced. In the nuclear medium the properties of this resonance are appreciably modified, and consequently the kaon nucleon scattering amplitudes, leading to an attractive kaon nucleus self-energy for densities higher than ρ0/25. With this interaction we are able to reproduce shifts and widths of kaonic atoms over the periodic table. We also investigate the region of deeply bound kaonic nuclear states which appear with very large widths in medium and heavy nuclei. Some of the deep atomic states, still unobserved, appear with narrower widths than the separation between levels, which makes them eligible for experimental observation. To this end, we make some estimates of the rates of formation in the (K-,γ) reaction., 2000年05月, Physical Review, 61 (5), 552051 - 552056, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

The agreement of the theory with the experiment is fair for the data taken at T-d = 2.3 GeV. The Delta excitation in the projectile is predicted close to the observed energy with the correct width. The theory, however, underpredicts by about 40% the cross sections measured at T-d = 1.6 GeV at angles where the cross section has fallen by about two orders of magnitude. • Radiatire decay of ρ0 and φ mesons in a chiral unitary approach(共著)

    比連崎 悟; E. Marco

We study the ρ0 and φ decays into π+ π- γ, π0π0γ and φ into π0ηγ using a chiral unitary approach to deal with the final state interaction of the MM system. The final state interaction modifies only moderately the large momenta tail of the photon spectrum of the p0→ π+π-γ decay. In the case of φ decay the contribution to π+π-γ and π0π0γ decay proceeds via kaonic loops and gives a distribution of ππ invariant masses in which the f0(980) resonance shows up with a very distinct peak. The spectrum found for φ → π0π0γ decay agrees with the recent experimental results obtained at Novosibirsk. The branching ratio for φ → π0ηγ, dominated by the a0(980), is also in agreement with recent Novosibirsk results. • Residual Interaction Effects in Deeply Bound Pionic States(共著)

    比連崎 悟; 比連崎悟

We have studied the residual interaction effects theoretically on the deeply bound pionic states which have been observed recently. In order to extract precise information on the pion-nucleus optical potential, we need to evaluate the residual interaction effects on the pionic states. The S-wave pi N interaction is used for the pion-nucleon residual interaction. We show that the complex eigenenergies vary typically about 0-20 keV and that the effects should be taken into account carefully in the analysis of data with high precision. We study theoretically how we can determine the neutron density distributions of unstable nuclei from proton elastic scattering. We apply the relativistic impulse model to study the sensitivities of the observables to the density distributions which are expressed in Woods-Saxon form. We find that both the radius and diffuseness of densities can be determined from restricted elastic scattering data in principle. • Pion-nucleus potential parameters and quadrupole effect in deeply bound pionic atom(共著)

    比連崎 悟; 野瀬ー外川直子

We have examined a possibility of determining the pion-nucleus potential parameters from the quadrupole hyperfine structure of the deeply bound pionic atoms in deformed nuclei. It is shown that the potential parameter sets, which lead to the similar level shifts and widths for spherical nuclei, predict fairly different hyperfine structure in deformed nuclei. However, the individual hyperfine levels overlap due to the large widths of deeply bound pionic levels and the detailed level structure is masked somewhat. The sensitivity of the pionic X-ray transition spectrum to the different potential parameter sets is also studied and could be used to distinguish the potential parameter sets experimentally. © 1999 Elsevier Science B.V., 1999年02月22日, Nucl. We discuss the possibility to use the recoilless (d,3He) reaction to produce bound states of η and ω mesons in light nuclei. We calculate meson bound states in the nucleus using an optical potential and their formation cross sections with the Green function method, and show that it should be feasible to experimentally observe mesic nuclei in the excitation energy spectrum and to deduce the meson mass shift in nuclei. This method discussed here is complementary to the dilepton invariant-mass spectroscopy, commonly used to study in-medium vector meson masses., 1999年, The European Physical Journal, 6 (1), 99 - 105, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

We calculate differential cross sections and the spin transfer coefficient [Formula Presented] in the [Formula Presented] reaction for proton bombarding energies from 1 to 10 GeV and [Formula Presented] invariant masses spanning the region of the [Formula Presented] Roper resonance. Two processes—[Formula Presented] excitation in the [Formula Presented] particle and Roper excitation in the proton—are included in an effective reaction model which was shown previously to reproduce existing inclusive spectra. The present calculations demonstrate that these two contributions can be clearly distinguished via [Formula Presented] even under kinematic conditions where cross sections alone exhibit no clear peak structure due to the excitation of the Roper resonance. © 1999 The American Physical Society., 1999年, Phys. Deeply bound Is states of π- as well as the 2p states in 207Pb were identified in the 208Pb(d,3He) reaction at 600 MeV. The binding energies of π- in 207Pb have been determined as Sπ(2p) = 5.31 ± 0.09 MeV and Bπ(1s) = 7.1 ± 0.2 MeV by comparing the observed Q-value spectrum with theory. These values indicate that the effective π- mass increases by 19.3 ± 2.7 MeV at the center of the 207Pb nucleus. © 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V., 1998年02月05日, Phys. We have studied nuclear quadrupole deformation effects in deeply bound pionic atoms theoretically. We have evaluated the level shifts and widths of the hyperfine components using the first order perturbation theory and compared them with the effects of neutron skin. We conclude that the nuclear quadrupole deformation effects for deeply bound 1s and 2p states are very difficult to observe and that the effects could be observed for 3d states. • Isoscalar Roper Excitation in P(α, α')Reactions in the 10-15 GeV Region ; (共著)

    比連崎 悟; 比連崎悟

Recent experiments at Saturne at 4 GeV showed that the (α, α′) reaction on the proton shows two distinctive peaks, which were associated to Δ projectile excitation and Roper target excitation. A subsequent theoretical analysis has shown that this picture is qualitatively correct but there are important interference effects between the two mechanisms. Futhermore, at this energy the ratio of strengths for the Roper and Δ peak is about 1/4. In the present paper we argue that by going to the 10-15 GeV region the interference effects become negligible, the signal for the Roper excitation is increased by more than an order of magnitude and the ratio of cross sections at the peaks for Roper and Δ excitation becomes of the order of unity, thus making this range of energies very appropiate for studies of isoscalar Roper excitation., 1996年06月20日, Phys. We study the Roper excitation in the (α, α′) reaction. We consider all processes which may be relevant in the Roper excitation region, namely, Roper excitation in the target, Roper excitation in the projectile, and double Δ excitation processes. The theoretical investigation shows that the Roper excitation in the proton target mediated by an isoscalar exchange is the dominant mechanism in the process. We determine an effective isoscalar interaction by means of which the experimental cross section is well reproduced. This should be useful to make predictions in related reactions and is a first step to construct eventually a microscopic NN→NN* transition potential, for which the present reaction does not offer enough information., 1996年01月, Phys.Rev., 53 (1), 277 - 284, web_of_science;doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

We study the charge-exchange (3He,t) reactions on unstable nuclei theoretically. Since this charge-exchange reaction takes place on the nuclear surface, this reaction is very sensitive to the neutron skin, and we show that the calculated cross sections are affected strongly by the existence of the neutron skin. This reaction can be observed using the inverse-kinematics method. We think the (3He,t) reaction is very useful to observe the neutron skins and also to get new information on isospin dependence of the Δ excitation mechanism in nuclei. © 1995., 1995年05月22日, Nucl.Phys., 587 (4), 787 - 801, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

Using the microscopic optical potentials we solve kaonic atoms with the Klein-Gordon equation in momentum space and obtain the kaonic-atom level shifts and the widths. The experimental data are reproduced well. We discuss also phenomenological optical potentials and compare them with the microscopic ones. In addition, we derive optical potentials in the local-density approximation with the use of the finite-matter kaon self-energy. We analyze the coherent electroproduction of neutral pions in nuclei. We find that this process does not contribute to the longitudinal response function for spin saturated nuclei and the dependence of the cross section on the azimuthal pion angle is particularly simple and given by 1-ε{lunate} cos 2øπ. This angular dependence could be useful to isolate the coherent contribution in future experiments, offering an advantage over coherent photoproduction. We first studied the data qualitatively by the Born approximation and found that the small cross section of p + 11Li, which had been observed at Ep = 62 MeV, can be understood as the break-up effect of halo neutrons from 11Li. We then searched for the optical potential parameters for both p + 9Li and p + 11Li under the assumption that 11Li has a halo structure of two weakly bound neutrons around the 9Li core. We found a good parameter set and concluded that the break-up effect of halo neutrons is essential to understand the p + 11Li data. © 1993., 1993年02月01日, Nucl.Phys., 552 (1), 57 - 65, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

We found that the experimental data of inclusive cross sections can be reproduced qualitatively well by our calculation. As for the polarization, we have the experimental data that were reported by two different groups, although they have opposite sign and different magnitudes. Our calculated results do not agree with either set of data. We show that the sign of polarization is sensitive to the outgoing Λ kinetic energy in the inclusive reactions and to the outgoing kaon angle in the exclusive kaon channel reactions. © 1992 Springer-Verlag., 1992年12月, Z.Phys., 343 (4), 471 - 475, doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

The vacuum energy is calculated for Yang-Mills (YM) system defined in D dimensional space-time of S1×Rd (D=d+1), where the possibility of the YM fields to acquire the vacuum expectation values on S1 is taken into account. The vacuum energy has already been obtained to the order of one-loop in many people. Here we calculate the vacuum energy in D dimensions to two-loop order. With an intention to reach higher loops, an approximation method is proposed, which is especially effective in higher dimensions. By this method, we can treat the higher-loop contributions of YM interactions as easily as we treat one-loop effect. As a check, we show reproduction of the two-loop contribution (D-dependence of the coefficient as well as the functional form) when the coupling constant is small. This approximation method is useful not only for the Kaluza-Klein theories but also for the finite temperature-density system (as a quark-gluon plasma). © 1992 Springer-Verlag., 1992年03月, Z.Phys., 53 (1), 91 - 96, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

    比連崎 悟; 土岐博

Theoretical studies are given on the (n, d) and (d, 3He) reactions leading to deeply bound pionic atoms in heavy nuclei of configuration [(nl)π·jn-1]J. The cross sections for various pionic and neutron-hole configurations in the case of a 208Pb target are calculated at incident energies 300-1000 MeV/u by using the effective number approach and the eikonal approximation for distortion. The effective number with a pion in the 1s or 2p state and a neutron hole in the i 13 2 orbit peaks around the same incident energy (Tn = 600 MeV) as the elementary cross section n+n→d+π-, where the momentum transfer matches the angular-momentum transfer of L = 5-7. The DWIA cross section for (n,d) producing a pion in the 1s or 2p orbit at Tn = 600 MeV is found to be around 42 or 75 μb/sr, respectively. At Tn = 350 MeV, where the momentum transfer is small, quasi-substitutional states of configurations [(2p)π(3p 1 2)n-1]L = 0 and [(2p)π(3p 3 2)n-1]L = 0 are preferentially populated with (n, d) cross sections of 95 and 190 μb/sr, respectively. The (d, 3He) cross sections are estimated to be an order of magnitude smaller than the (n, d) cross sections. Thus, the (n, d) and (d, 3He) reactions are found to be suited for the production of deeply bound pionic atoms. © 1991., 1991年, Nucl.Phys., 530 (3-4), 679 - 697, web_of_science;doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

Monoenergetic 418-MeV neutrons from the Li7(p,n) reaction were used to induce (n,p) reactions on a segmented Pb208 target. The spectrum between 100- and 180-MeV excitation energy was measured with an energy resolution of 1.15 MeV (FWHM). In the region of 120140 MeV, where the deeply bound pionic states were expected, the observed spectrum exhibited a smooth continuumlike behavior with a cross section of 0.8 mb/sr MeV. This resulted in an upper limit of 0.35 mb/sr for the production cross section of - bound states in Pb208. This cross section is substantially smaller than the estimate based on the plane-wave impulse approximation, showing the importance of the effect of distortion. The distortion effect is calculated and discussed. © 1991 The American Physical Society., 1991年, Phys.Rev., 43 (3), 1099 - 1105, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

  • Sensitivity of deeply bound pionic atoms on the neutron skin ; (共著)

    比連崎 悟; 土岐博

A theoretical study is done to see how the properties of deeply bound pionic atoms depend on the neutron skin. With increased neutron skin, the strong isovector part of the pion-nucleus optical potential helps developing a repulsive bump at the nuclear surface which pushes the pionic wave function further out and decreases the binding energy. With further increase of the neutron skin, the repulsive potential in the central part is reduced and an inner component of the wave function develops in the nuclear interior, and ultimately a pion bounds state of large width is formed in the deeper interior for Rn-Rp≥ 0.35 fm. © 1990., 1990年10月25日, Phys.Lett., 249 (3-4), 391 - 395, web_of_science;doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

A solution of the vortex type is given in a six-dimensional SU(2) × U(1) pure gauge theory coupled to Einstein gravity in a compactified background geometry. We construct the solution of an effective abelian Higgs model in terms of dimensional reduction. The solution, however, has a peculiarity in its physically relevant quantity, a deficit angle, which is given as a function of the ratio of the gauge couplings of SU(2) and U(1). The size of the extra space (sphere) is shown to vary with the distance from the axis of the "string". © 1990., 1990年07月30日, Nucl.Phys., 339 (2), 533 - 544, web_of_science;doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

We solve the Euclidean Einstein equations with non-Abelian gauge fields of sufficiently large symmetry in various dimensions. In higher-dimensional spaces, we find the solutions which are similar to so-called scalar wormholes. In four-dimensional space-time, we find singular wormhole solutions with infinite Euclidean action. Wormhole solutions in the three-dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills theory with a Chern-Simons term are also constructed. © 1990 The American Physical Society., 1990年, Phys.Rev., 42 (6), 1973 - 1981, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

  • Structure and formation of deeply-bound pionic atoms ; (共著)

    比連崎 悟; 土岐博

We have calculated spectra of deeply-bound pionic atoms using the standard pion-nucleus optical potential. The widths of the deeply-bound states are found to be narrow and are considered as quasi-stable states even for the 1s state in 208Pb. These unexpected results are caused by the repulsive pion-nucleus optical potential which pushes the pionic wave functions outwards so that the pion absorption by the nucleus is weakened. These deeply-bound π states have hybrid character, somewhere between pionic nuclei and pionic atoms constituting a pion halo around the nucleus. This result remains relatively unchanged by the use of different optical potentials, as far as they reproduce shallow pionic atoms. We propose to produce these deeply-bound pionic atoms, hitherto untouched region, by using the "pion transfer" (n, p) reaction, where π is transferred to the target nucleus. We have calculated the cross sections for the formation of various deeply bound states via the (n, p) reaction within the framework of a plane-wave approximation. The calculated cross section increases rapidly with the nuclear charge and indicates that the detection of unexplored deeply bound pionic atoms is feasible. We comment also on the use of complex projectiles for the 'pion-transfer' reactions such as (d, 2He). © 1989., 1989年10月02日, Nucl.Phys., 501 (4), 653 - 671, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

High-energy heavy-ion collisions (∼GeV/N) open up a possibility to produce pionic atoms of unstable nuclei. We study the neutron number dependence of energy shifts and widths of pionic atoms in wide mass regions using standard pion-nucleus optical potentials. Two widely used optical potentials provide appreciably different results as the neutron number of deviates from the ones of stable nuclei. © 1987., 1987年07月30日, Phys.Lett., 194 (1), 20 - 24, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

The h-PRiME collaboration (Japan-Germany-Austria) searches for h0(958) meson-nucleus bound states. The mass of the h0 meson is much greater than the values if it were a pure Goldstone boson associated with spontaneously broken chiral symmetry. The extra mass is to be attributed to non-perturbative gluon dynamics and the QCD axial anomaly. The h0 in media will be influenced through chiral restoration and the axial U(1) dynamics, causing accordingly a sizable mass reduction and a strong binding to the nucleus, on which an observation of such states will provide valued information. The data taking (S437 experiment) using inclusive missing mass spectroscopy of (p;d) reaction off carbon target will take place in summer 2014 at the FRS spectrometer at GSI., 2013年, Proceedings of Science, scopus;scopus_citedby

We study the meson-nucleus systems as the very interesting objects to deduce the hadron properties precisely and to obtain new information on the aspects of the strong interaction at finite density. We briefly introduce the recent research activities on pionic atoms and η′ (958) mesic nuclei in this article. The (d,3 He) reactions for the formation of the pionic atoms are considered at finite angles and on the odd-neutron nuclear targets to develop the systematic and accurate studies of the pion properties at various nuclear densities. η′ (958)-nucleus systems are quite interesting in the context of the effects of the UA(1) anomaly at finite density. The possible formation of the nuclear bound states of the η′meson by the (p,d) reactions is discussed to deduce the information on the mass shift of the exceptionally heavy η′meson., 2013年, Proceedings of Science, scopus;scopus_citedby

  • Formation of deeply bound pionic atoms and pion properties in nuclei

© Copyright owned by the author(s) under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike Licence. We study theoretically the formation of the deeply bound pionic atoms in various cases to deduce the pion properties in nuclei precisely from the observables. We show the angular dependence of the pionic atom formation spectra of the 122Sn(d,3He) reactions in the forward angles. At each scattering angle, a different combination of the pion-bound and neutron-hole states dominates the spectrum because of the kinematical condition. We conclude that we can obtain information on the deeply bound pionic 2p state in addition to the 1s and 2s states by observing the spectra in finite angles. We also consider the neutron-odd nucleus as a target nucleus of the formation reaction, because it has an advantage that the pionic atom is formed in the even-even nucleus, of which the ground state has no neutron-hole states. In the 117Sn(d;3He) reaction, we find that we can see clearly the peak structure of the pionic 1s state formation with the ground state of the even-even nucleus 116Sn. The pionic atom in the even-even nucleus will not have additional shifts induced by the effects of the residual interaction between pion-bound and neutron-hole states. The observation of these pionic states is preferable for extracting the accurate information on the pion properties from data., 2013年, Proceedings of Science, 127 (5), 1568 - 1570, doi;scopus;scopus_citedby

  • Quasi-deuteron picture for He-3 and He-4 photodisintegration

    S Hirenzaki; Y Umemoto; K Kume

We have developed a phenomenological quasi-deuteron model to describe photodisintegration reactions of He-3 and He-4 at intermediate photon energies and compared the results with experimental data obtained by the TAGX group in which contributions from photon absorption by pn pairs were selectively observed. The data can be reproduced reasonably well. However there still remain certain discrepancies between calculated results and data., ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV, 2001年, HADRON AND NUCLEAR PHYSICS WITH ELECTROMAGNETIC PROBES, 177 - 182, web_of_science

© The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2016. We conduct an experimental project to make spectroscopy of deeply bound pionic atoms systematically over wide range of nuclei. We aim at studying the strong interaction in the low energy region, which has close connection to spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and its partial restoration in nuclear matter. First experimental results show improved spectral resolution and much better statistical sensitivity than previous experiments. Present status of the experiment is reported., EDP Sciences, 2016年11月29日, EPJ Web of Conferences, 130, doi;url;url;scopus_citedby

© The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2016. We performed a missing-mass spectroscopy experiment of the 12C(p, d) reaction at 2.5 GeV proton energy in order to search for η′ mesic nuclei. An excitation-energy spectrum of 11C was obtained around the η′ production threshold. As no significant peak structure was observed in the spectrum, upper limits of the formation cross section of η′ mesic nuclei have been determined. Preliminary results of the experiment as well as future prospects are given., E D P SCIENCES, 2016年11月29日, EPJ Web of Conferences, 130, doi;web_of_science;url;url;scopus_citedby

Meson properties are believed to have close connection to the fundamental theory, QCD, and have been studied for a long time both theoretically and experimentally. In this report, we study the recent activities in this field and consider the η(958) mesic nuclei and the deeply bound pionic atoms. We summarize the possible formation of the η(958) mesic nuclei by the (p, d) reactions and report the new possibilities of the spectroscopic study of the pionic atoms using the (d,3He) reactions., E D P SCIENCES, 2014年, EPJ Web of Conferences, 81, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby

We plan a missing-mass spectroscopy experiment of η′ mesic nuclei with the 12C(p,d)η′ 11C reaction to study in-medium properties of the η′ meson. In nuclear medium, due to restoration of chiral symmetry, the mass of the η′ meson may be reduced, and η′ bound states in a nucleus may exist. The experiment will be started at GSI with a 2.5 GeV proton beam using FRS as a spectrometer and will be continued at Super-FRS at FAIR. The plan of the experiment and development of a Cherenkov detector and an optics mode are described. © Owned by the authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2013., 2014年, EPJ Web of Conferences, 66, 09019, doi;scopus;scopus_citedby;url

  • Spectroscopy of η′ mesic nuclei via semi-exclusive measurement at FAIR

In order to investigate a possible mass reduction of an η′ meson at finite density, a series of missing-mass spectroscopy experiments of η′-nucleus bound states with the 12C(p,d) reaction is planned at GSI and FAIR. A semi-exclusive measurement with the tagging of protons from η′ two-body absorption (η′NN → NN) will be a key feature in an experiment with Super-FRS at FAIR. © Owned by the authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2013., 2014年, EPJ Web of Conferences, 66, 09006, doi;scopus;scopus_citedby;url

We have measured the energy spectrum of pionic 121Sn atoms by missing-mass spectroscopy of the 122Sn(d, 3He) reaction near the π - emission threshold. The measurement serves as a pilot experiment for high precision systematic spectroscopy of deeply bound pionic atoms in a new pionic Atom Factory project (piAF) at the RI beam factory (RIBF) of RIKEN. The status of the analysis is reported. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media B.V., SPRINGER, 2012年05月, Hyperfine Interactions, 209 (1-3), 51 - 56, doi;web_of_science;scopus;scopus_citedby;url
